Skrine x Project ID: Virtual Mini-Internship

In December 2021, Skrine hosted five Form 4 students hailing from the states of Selangor, Johor and Penang as mini-interns. This was part of the firm’s collaboration with Project ID for Project ID’s EduKerjaya initiative, which is designed to help students from B40 communities with achieving their career goals.

Skrine’s Social Responsibility Committee, in collaboration with the firm’s Associates and Pupils Committee, organised the virtual mini-internship. The programme involved various talks and sharing sessions, which gave the students the opportunity to meet with and learn from our Partners and lawyers, as well as an internal Negotiation Competition. Aside from these activities, the students were given assignments and tasks from their supervising lawyers: Alyshea Low, Rachel Chiah, Joanna Tan, Tai Kean Lynn , and Eo Shao Dong. These tasks were tailored to give the students exposure to life in a law firm, provide a basic understanding of various legal topics as well as teach them to identify and analyse issues.

The feedback from the students was very positive and they told us they enjoyed their experience interning at Skrine. We were delighted to receive appreciation messages from them, which can be viewed here. We look forward to meeting Kai Zeng, Maathi, Chin Min, Qi Zhen and Nafiz again in the near future!

We are grateful to our Partners and lawyers who volunteered to be a part of this meaningful initiative. Our Partners, Trevor Padasian, Richard Khoo and Joshua Teoh, and Senior Associates Rachel Chiah, Tan Wei Liang and Tiang Wen En, led the organisation and implementation of the programme. They were supported by the supervising lawyers and the pupils who volunteered to be “student buddies” to the mini-interns: Wong Shun Yong, Laura Anastasia Kurian, Claudia Nyon, Yasmin Ariffah, Anson Liow and Wan Nabil Ikram.
