International Malaysia Law Conference (IMLC) 2018

This morning, 17 August 2018, we hosted an international session at the International Malaysia Law Conference (IMLC) 2018 at Royale Chulan, Kuala Lumpur entitled “Is Litigation Reclaiming the Edge Arbitration Once Enjoyed?”.
 
The session was moderated by our partner, Sharon Chong, and the panel speakers were:
1. Toby Landau QC, Essex Court Chambers, London; Essex Court Chambers Duxton (Singapore Group Practice), Singapore
2. Jelita Pandjaitan, Linklaters Singapore Pte Ltd, Singapore
3. Khoo Guan Huat, Partner of Skrine
 
It was a very lively session where the panel speakers discussed the traditional supposed advantages of arbitration and whether they still necessarily apply, and what the contributing factors to costs and delay issues and concerns are. The panel also shared their views and experiences on practical tips to reduce the impact of these concerns and techniques and tools for navigating international arbitration. The session was very well attended by both local and foreign delegates.
