Our lawyers from Skrine’s Maritime & Shipping practice, Kumar Kanagasabai and Grace Mah Yen Ru, were recently invited to assist with a presentation on legislative reform surrounding the cabotage policy at a workshop which was jointly organised by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Malaysia Internet Exchange (MYIX).  
 
The participants at the workshop included YB Mr Anthony Loke (Minister of Transport) and YB En Fahmi Fadzil (Minister of Communications and Digital); senior ministry officials as well as senior leaders from technology and telecommunication giants such as TM, Time dotCom, Google, Microsoft, Meta and Amazon Web Services. 
 
The objective of the workshop was to bring together policy makers and industry leaders to identify measures which will instil confidence in foreign investors and encourage the landing of subsea cables to boost economic activity in Malaysia.
