Securities Commission Issues Consultation Paper on Property Crowdfunding

The Securities Commission Malaysia (‘SC’) issued Public Consultation Paper No. 2/2019 (‘CP2/2019’) on 6 March 2019 to seek feedback from the public on the Proposed Regulatory Framework for Property Crowdfunding.

The proposal to introduce property crowdfunding was first announced by the Finance Minister during his 2019 Malaysian Budget Speech on 2 November 2018.

In CP2/2019, the SC has sought public feedback on 6 main questions (with one question being comprised of six sub-questions).  The consultation period ends on 29 March 2109.

Of interest to stakeholders and their advisers is that CP2/2019 provides a brief outline on some of the requirements that will be imposed when the property crowdfunding framework is launched.
