Bursa to Introduce e-Corporate Exercises

Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad (‘Exchange’) announced amendments to the Main Market Listing Requirements (‘MMLR’) and the ACE Market Listing Requirements (‘ACE LR’) on 27 April 2020.

The amendments require listed issuers to offer an option to its securities holders to perform the following electronically (in addition to the existing manual method) -

  • subscription and payment for rights issue;
  • conversion and payment for convertible securities; and
  • election to participate in a dividend reinvestment scheme
(collectively ‘e-Corporate Exercises’).

The amendments will apply to e-Corporate Exercises announced on or after 2 February 2021.

In the meantime, the Exchange has, in its media release of 27 April 2020, strongly encouraged listed issuers to voluntarily offer the electronic option to their securities holders earlier.
