Skrine x Project ID: Career in Law & Public Speaking Workshop

On 15th August 2020, a team of Skrine lawyers conducted an ‘Introduction to a Career in Law & Public Speaking’ workshop for a group of secondary school students from select schools in West and East Malaysia.

The workshop was held online via Zoom at the initiative of the
Project ID: Impianku Destinasiku (“Project ID”) team. Project ID has been making the best use of online tools and platforms to continue their career aspiration and leadership programme for secondary school students.

For the first session of the workshop, our lawyers started with a presentation about having a career in law, setting out the steps to qualify as a lawyer, and sharing some insight into their daily lives as lawyers. This was followed by an engaging Q&A session with the students.

The second session continued with a presentation on essential tips to improve public speaking skills. Following this was a breakout session in which groups of Project ID students, with the help of our lawyers, collaborated to prepare a short impromptu speech. After that, a representative from each group delivered their speech to everyone before receiving feedback from their peers and our lawyers.

As the students were eager to learn and engage with our lawyers, it was a fun and fruitful workshop. Many of the students commented that they learnt a number of practical tips which they could put to good use in the future. We are glad to have helped the students to be more confident when speaking in public, and perhaps inspired them to consider law as a career option.  Thank you to Project ID for continuing this collaboration with Skrine!
