Mooting Workshop organised by the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC)

On 26 January 2019, our Partner, Kwan Will Sen, participated as a panel member in the session on “Applicable Laws: Jurisdiction & Merits” at the Mooting Workshop organised by the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC). Mr Sudharsanan Thillainathan (of Steven Thiru & Sudhar Partnership) and Mr Daniel Chua (of Herbert Smith Freehills) were the other panelists. Ms Chelsea Pollard (AIAC International Case Counsel) moderated the session. Will Sen spoke on, among others, effective ways to pitch legal arguments, be it procedural or substantive issues, before a Tribunal/Moot Judge.

Separately, Tan Hui Wen, our Associate, spoke on “Red Flags in Delivering Oral Submissions” in a panel discussion on “How to Train Your Oralist” moderated by Mr. Albertus Aldio Primadi (AIAC International Case Counsel). Hui Wen also appeared as counsel in a mock hearing of an international arbitration, where she gave oral submissions on the arbitral tribunal’s jurisdiction in deciding a challenge to the appointment of an arbitrator.

The Mooting Workshop is a prelude to the 3rd AIAC-ICC Pre-Moot for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, to be held at the AIAC, from 22 - 24 March 2019.
