LESI YMC Asia Pacific Conference

Our IP partners Joshua Beni Chris Teoh, Alyshea Low, and Gooi Yang Shuh represented Skrine at this year’s edition of the LESI YMC Asia Pacific Conference held on 25 April 2025 at the AIAC, Kuala Lumpur. This inaugural event was jointly organized by the LESI YMC - Young Members Congress and the local Licensing Executives Society Malaysia (LESM) chapter where Joshua is the President and Alyshea is the Secretary of the current board.

Joshua led a compelling discussion as moderator for Panel 3, “Navigating IP Strategies: The Impact of Policy, Politics, and Market Dynamics”, with Sonja London, Nathan Jensen, Christine Ng and Mohd Hizami. The panel’s global and cross-jurisdictional experience explored how shifting geopolitical landscapes, the rising tensions in global market stability and the increase in the use of AIs require businesses to adapt their IP strategies. Needless to say, the recent threat of trade wars was a hot topic during the discussion.

Meanwhile, Alyshea and Gooi respectively served as moderator and speaker on Panel 4, “The Future for IP Professionals” with Raghuram Supramanium, Paul Jurcys, PhD and Karthika Perumal. This panel saw a more light-hearted conversation about how emerging technologies, notably generative AI systems, affects the IP profession. Gooi shared tips and insights on how IP practitioners should make use of AI systems in their day-to-day practice whilst balancing the risks and pitfalls that may arise.

Skrine is also proud to have been one of the key sponsors for the event, in line with our commitment to support platforms that foster thought leadership in the IP space. We thank the organising committee, speakers and participants for their contributions that made the conference such a success.
