Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar (KTJ) Law Symposium and Workshop
12 January 2025
On 12 January 2025, the Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar (KTJ) Law Society hosted its inaugural Law Symposium and Workshop, welcoming aspiring law students from Nexus International School, Epsom International School, Taylor’s College, Sunway College, Sri KDU International School and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (UIA).
Our partner and KTJ alumnus,
Fariz Abdul Aziz, joined the opening plenary panel discussion alongside YA Puan Adlin Abdul Majid on the compelling topic: "Why Should Ethics Matter in Law?" The discussion delved into the complexities of legal ethics, covering its application in criminal, environmental, and human rights legal practices.
Our associate and fellow KTJ alumnus, Pheng Chew Tan, conducted an engaging LNAT Masterclass, guiding students through thought-provoking motions such as:
• To what extent does the legalization of euthanasia undermine the sanctity of life principle?
• How does media censorship impact the public’s ability to make informed decisions?
• Should international law play a role in regulating the banning of political parties?
• Should individuals with criminal charges be disallowed from running for public office?
We are proud to support events like this that inspire the next generation of legal professionals to think critically and uphold the importance of ethics in law.
