On 23 January 2025, the incredible launch of the ICDR Malaysia Committee by the American Arbitration Association - International Centre for Dispute Resolution® (ICDR) took place. This milestone event introduced a stellar committee that will play a pivotal role in contributing to the development of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) for Malaysian businesses and legal practitioners.
Our Partner and Chair of the ICDR Malaysia Committee,
Louise Azmi, eloquently shared the committee's vision and emphasised the importance of showcasing Malaysian legal talent on the global stage. She also provided an outline of the exciting initiatives and measures planned for the year ahead, which aim to contribute to the continued growth of ADR in Malaysia.
The event was a resounding success, receiving strong support from local practitioners and stakeholders. Engaging discussions on the development of ADR in Malaysia took centre stage during the official proceedings and networking sessions, with attendees sharing valuable insights for further enhancement.
ICDR’s Regional Vice President (Asia), Thara Gopalan, aptly summarised the vision, emphasising ICDR's commitment to making a meaningful contribution to the development of dispute resolution in the region. Louise and her committee members look forward to working closely with Thara to bring this vision to life, focusing on talent development, promoting neutrality, and positioning Malaysia as a leading and secure hub for international trade and arbitration.
