On 29 October, Skrine hosted a seminar on “Getting Ahead of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA):  Learning from GDPR and International Perspectives.”
 
Our Partner and Head of the Privacy and Data Protection Practice, Jillian Chia spoke on the proposed Malaysian DPIA framework, with formal guidelines expected in early 2026. Guest speaker Wilfred Ng shared valuable perspectives from advising on the EU GDPR, as well as Hong Kong and China data protection laws, supported by case studies on conducting DPIAs in practice.

The encouraging turnout from DPOs and their teams reflects the growing importance of DPIAs as organisations prepare for this upcoming compliance requirement.
