8th International Bar Association (IBA) Asia Pacific Regional Forum Biennial Conference

Our partners Selvamalar Alagaratnam and Loshini Ramarmuty represented Skrine at the 8th International Bar Association (IBA) Asia Pacific Regional Forum Biennial Conference in Hong Kong. This year’s theme, "Vibrant Asia – Land of Opportunity and Promise," perfectly captured the region's explosive growth and boundless potential.

Selvamalar moderated a session on Interregional Migration, examining the delicate balance between the economic benefits of migration and the fundamental rights of workers. She was joined by an esteemed panel, including Rhea Goyal, Patricia Ho, and Saqeb Mahbub, for this timely discussion on the future of economic mobility and employment rights.

Meanwhile, Loshini chaired a session on Statutory Adjudication in construction disputes, offering comparative perspectives from across jurisdictions. The panel, featuring Calvin Cheuk, Sathiaseelan J., Hangil Lee, Mohammed Shameer, and Kaori Sugimoto, shed light on evolving strategies in construction dispute resolution across Asia.

Our partners, Preetha Pillai, immediate past co-chair and member of the advisory board of the Asia Pacific Regional Forum and member of the organising committee of the conference and Tan Wei Xian were also part of the Skrine delegation that attended the conference, strengthening our firm’s commitment to fostering collaboration across the region.
