13th Asia Privacy Bridge (APB) Forum 2024

Our Partner, Jillian Chia who leads the Privacy and Data Protection practice, had the honour of being invited to the 13th Asia Privacy Bridge (APB) Forum 2024 in Seoul last week (17-18th October), to speak on ‘Responsible AI in Malaysia: The Role of Data Protection Policy’.

The 13th APB Forum was organised by Barun ICT Research Center of Yonsei University, in collaboration with the Personal Information Protection Commission of Korea (PIPC) and the Korea Chief Privacy Officers (CPO) Forum.

The Forum was attended by 600 participants. Speakers and moderators who hailed from more than nine Asian countries, including members of academia, international organizations, NGOs and legal professionals, shared valuable insights in respect of AI governance and data protection.

During the Forum, a joint declaration was made emphasising the importance of international collaboration for trustworthy AI governance and privacy.

In his closing remarks, Director Kim Beom-Su of Barun ICT Research Institute, said, "International cooperation is essential to solve privacy issues in the AI ​​era. We need to prepare for change" underscoring the need for cooperation among countries to protect personal information particularly with the emergence of technologies such as AI.
