The Jonathan Yoon MIARB Debate Series 2020

On 20 February 2020, our partner, Sharon Chong, delivered the opening address at the Jonathan Yoon MIARB Debate Series 2020 organised by the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (“MIArb”). This was the 4th instalment in the Debate Series.
The debate motion for this year was "
This House Believes That Party Autonomy Must Prevail to Preserve the Sanctity of Arbitration". The speakers fought tooth and nail on the motion and in the end the motion was defeated by audience vote. This event was well attended by arbitration and ADR practitioners from various industries.
Sharon is the current President of MIArb and Muhammad Suhaib Ibrahim is a council member.
