Jillian Chia was a panelist at the ‘IBA-PERADI Corporate Counsel Conference: Global and Local Legal Perspective in Investment’ on 8 August 2019 at Pullman Hotel Bali.
 
The session entitled ‘GDPR and the urgency of data protection law in Indonesia’, focused on local and global data protection concerns. Jillian spoke alongside fellow legal practitioner Abadi Abi Tisnadisastra of AKSET Jakarta and C M Chan Vice-President of the Law Society of Hong Kong as well as with industry player and academician, Raditya Kosasih, Associate General Counsel of Go-Jek Jakarta and Bambang Pratama of Bina Nusantara University Jakarta. The session was moderated by Erwin Purba of IAB&F Jakarta. Jillian’s presentation focused on the data protection developments in Malaysia and shared her experience in respect of the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 in Malaysia 2013, followed by a panel session where the panelists shared their views and advice in respect of achieving data protection compliance in light of local laws as well as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
