Last Monday (14 November 2022), Skrine returned to volunteer with the Pertiwi Soup Kitchen. On the day, four of us travelled to the heart of KL to help with the dinner service.
When we arrived at 5:30pm, it had just started to rain – but that wasn’t going to dampen our spirits! We began by helping with the preparation and packing of the food at Restoran Joyo Abadi.
By about 6:30pm, the skies had cleared and we walked over to Pusat Khidmat Gelandangan Medan Tuanku, where the food distribution took place. The team helped to distribute rice boxes (served with chicken, fish or prawn), buns, pastries and drinks to the beneficiaries who queued up in an orderly manner.
Approximately an hour later, we finished serving all the beneficiaries and packed up to leave, but not before taking a few selfies with the Pertiwi Soup Kitchen team.
On behalf of the Social Responsibility Unit, a huge thank you to Tan Li Gang
(Scott), Gunasunthari and Gunasunthari’s daughter, Kayalviezhi, for taking the time to help out!
Do keep an eye out for future opportunities to volunteer with the Pertiwi Soup Kitchen. It’s definitely an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
