Skrine x Project ID x UNICEF: Public Speaking 101 Workshop

Skrine was recently invited by Project ID and UNICEF Malaysia to conduct an online Public Speaking 101 workshop, as part of their KitaConnect programme which is aimed at building the skills of young people so as to maximise their mental health and wellbeing, support their learning, and be civically engaged in their communities. Our lawyers Ann Tiang, Chew Sue Peng, Gooi Yang Shuh, Jeremiah Ch’ng, Nicole Oh, Raaasi Laarnia, Rachel Chiah, Tan Li Gang, Tan Wei Liang, Wong Shun Yong, Kailash Kalaiarasu and Ng Kar Man took part in this workshop, which had over 30 participants ranging from 13 to 25 years old on Saturday, 9 July 2022. As some of the participants were members of the deaf community, a sign language interpreter was present to help facilitate communication.

During the workshop, our lawyers gave an interactive presentation on preparing and delivering a speech. This was followed by a breakout session where participants were divided into small groups, and had the opportunity to present a speech of their own and to engage with each other and their respective Skrine facilitators.

It was inspiring to see the participants work to overcome their fears of public speaking and how they gave their all to try to improve their skills! We had so much fun getting to know them. A big thank you to Project ID and UNICEF Malaysia for inviting Skrine to be a part of such a rewarding initiative.
