We take pride in the firm’s dragon boat team, the Skrine Dragons. The dragon boat team brings together our partners, associates, staff and pupils to paddle together as one unit. Success requires commitment, discipline, tenacity, a strong team spirit and an ability to work in perfect synchronicity – all virtues we aim to instill amongst members of the Skrine family. The Skrine Dragons was, and remains, the only dragon boat team backed by a legal firm in Malaysia.
Formed in 2005, the Skrine Dragons has since become a unique part of the Firm’s culture. Team members train together, work out together and travel together for international dragon boat competitions. The Skrine dragon boaters have represented the Firm and country in competitions in Penang, Sabah, Malacca, Hong Kong and Boracay, Philippines. They were also the sole Malaysian representative competing at the IDBF 8th Club Crew World Championships, which attracted more than 4,700 dragon boaters from 25 countries.
The commitment of the Skrine Dragon Boaters has sparked a strong esprit de corp that extends to the entire Firm, who collectively cheer them on through every challenge.
The success of the team in turn inspired the biennial ‘Skrine Regatta: Paddling for Charity’ race. It is a breathtaking corporate dragon boat race, with our clients paddling in dragon boats, all with the aim of raising funds for charity. The Skrine Regatta brings together the Skrine members and our clients in a celebration of sportsmanship and fun.
