The Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Fee for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Detection Test) Regulations 2020 (“Covid-19 Fees Regulations”) was gazetted and came into effect on 29 June 2020.
The Covid-19 Fees Regulations set the fees payable for Covid-19 detection tests. A summary of the Regulations is set out below.
Detection tests at points of entry
Every person entering Malaysia from overseas, both citizens and foreigners, are required to pay the relevant fees listed below for the relevant type of Covid-19 detection test as determined by the Director-General of Health (“DG”) carried out or to be carried out on them, before proceeding for immigration clearance at any point of entry. The relevant fees and detection tests are as below:
Detection tests at Government hospital or other designated places
Any person, both citizens or foreigners, may request to undergo a Covid-19 detection test at any Government hospital (including Government clinics and medical institutions declared by the Government as Federal Medical Institutions) or any place determined by the DG to be a place to undergo Covid-19 detection tests, and such persons will have to pay the relevant fees as listed above relating to the relevant type of Covid-19 detection test carried out or to be carried out on them.
The Covid-19 Fees Regulations confers discretion on the Minister of Health to waive wholly or in part any such fee specified in any particular case.
