Covid-19: Movement Control Measures - ‘Essential Services’ list expanded *Update No.4*
09 February 2021
The
Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Movement Control) (No. 2) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2021
(‘
MCO No. 2 Amendment No. 4 Regulations
’) were gazetted on 5 February 2021 and came into force on the same day.
The MCO No. 2 Amendment No. 4 Regulations substituted the Second Schedule of the
Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Movement Control) (No. 2) Regulations 2021
)
which sets out a list of ‘essential services’.
The substituting schedule is substantially similar to the original schedule except that item 31, namely ‘digital creative content development in studio including film editing’ has been amended to ‘creative content development in studio including film editing’. The updated Second Schedule is available
here
.
Comments
This expansion allows the creative content industry, digital or otherwise, to operate in areas subjected to the movement control order. The Malaysian Government is gradually but surely reopening all sectors of the economy. We remain hopeful that the gradual reopening of all sectors of the economy, with all stakeholders adjusting to the new normal, would enable our economy to regain its momentum, whilst stabilizing the Covid-19 situation in our country.
