MPC seeks feedback on Guideline for Short-Term Residential Accommodation

The Malaysia Productivity Corporation has issued a Public Consultation Document to seek feedback on the draft Guideline on Short-Term Residential Accommodation (‘Draft Guideline’).
 
The Draft Guideline is the initiative of the Technical Working Group on Short-Term Accommodation which consists of 18 members, including various ministries, regulatory bodies, government departments and municipal bodies.
 
The proposals in the Draft Guideline include the following;
 
  1. the types of accommodation that can be used as Short-Term Residential Accommodation (‘STRA’);
  2. the types of STRA;
  3. the requirement for hosts, agents and STRA Platforms to be registered and licensed with the relevant authorities;
  4. the maximum number of days per year which certain types of STRA can be let out;
  5. safety and other requirements such as, fire safety requirements, limitation on the number of occupants, and nuisance control; and
  6. reporting requirements.
Feedback on the Draft Guideline can be submitted to the Malaysia Productivity Corporation at http://upc.mpc.gov.my.
 
The consultation period ends on 30 November 2019.
