The Malaysian Parliament reconvenes today for the Third Meeting of the Second Session of the Fourteenth Parliament. The Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives) will meet from 7 October to 5 December 2019 whereas the Dewan Negara (Senate) will meet from 9 December to 19 December 2019.

The Malaysian Budget 2020 will be tabled by the Finance Minister of Malaysia on 11 October 2019 and various finance-related bills to give effect to the said budget will be tabled for approval by both Houses during this meeting.

According to the Order Paper for the Dewan Rakyat dated 7 October 2019, the bills which will be presented during this meeting for the first reading are the Anti-Fake News (Repeal) Bill 2019, Food Donors Protection Bill 2019, Industrial Relations (Amendment) Bill 2019, Currency Bill 2019, Central Bank of Malaysia (Amendment) Bill 2019. The Order Paper also states that the Independent Police Complaints of Misconduct of Commission Bill 2019 will be tabled for its second reading.

Based on various news reports, several other bills may be tabled during this meeting. These include a bill to regulate political funding and bills to amend the Employment Act 1955 and the Legal Profession Act 1976.
