On 27 September 2024, the Government of Turkiye initiated an anti-circumvention investigation on woven fabrics of synthetic or artificial staple fibres under subheadings 55.13, 55.14, 55.15 and 55.16 of the Harmonized System Codes, originating in or exported from Malaysia (“
products”). This investigation aims to determine whether the imports of the products from Malaysia are being used to circumvent the existing anti-dumping measures against the People’s Republic of China.
The import data showed that the import of the products from Malaysia was 140 tons in 2021 (USD 1 million), 242 tons in 2022 (USD 2 million), 2.507 tons in 2023 (USD 13 million), and 2.012 tons in the first half of 2024 (USD 9 million). Unit prices were USD 8.10/kg in 2021, USD 8.80/kg in 2022, USD 5.30/kg in 2023, and USD 4.70/kg in the first half of 2024. Furthermore, the share of imports originating from Malaysia in total imports, which was 1% in 2021 and 2022, increased to 16% in 2023 and to 30% in the first half of 2024.
All interested parties have 37 days to respond from the date of notification of the initiation of the investigation.
