On 6 October 2024, the Government of Malaysia initiated an anti-dumping duties investigation on imports steel wire rods classified under the Harmonised System Code and ASEAN Harmonised Tariff Nomenclature 7213.91.1000, 7213.91.2000, 7213.91.9000 and 7227.90.9000 (“
subject merchandise”) originating or exported from the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Indonesia and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (“
targeted countries”). The Petition was filed by Southern Steel Berhad (“
Petitioner”), a domestic producer of the subject merchandise.
The Petitioner has stated and provided evidence that the imports of the subject merchandise from the targeted countries have increased in terms of absolute quantity. The Petitioner alleges that the increase in absolute quantity of imports from the targeted countries has caused the domestic industry to suffer injury, among others, price undercutting, price depression, reduction in market share, decline in sales, decline in profitability, decline in actual production and capacity utilisation, decreased employment and wages, reduction in return on total asset and low ability to raise capital.
All interested parties who wish to participate in the anti-dumping duties investigation may contact the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) in writing to request for a copy of the questionnaires no later than
