On 26 November 2025, the Securities Commission Malaysia (“
SC”) announced that six companies had been selected to participate as the inaugural cohort of its Regulatory Sandbox (“
Regulatory Sandbox”).
The Regulatory Sandbox was launched by the SC at the SCxSC Fintech Summit on 1 October 2024
1, and was followed by the issue of the
Guidelines on Regulatory Sandbox on 17 February 2025. Our article on the said Guidelines can be read

The application period for the first cohort opened from 15 April 2025 to 31 May 2025, and the following six participants were selected after a multi-stage evaluation process:
The six inaugural participants will be allowed a testing period of approximately 12 months to deploy and assess their proposed solutions in accordance with the defined testing parameters and requirements. Testing will be carried out in two batches - either in January 2026 or July 2026 – based on the readiness of the participants.
According to the SC, several participants are also leveraging advanced data analytics and blockchain to enhance due diligence and introduce new operating models.
