Chief Justice Proposes to Expedite Appeal Hearings

The Chief Justice of the Federal Court, Tan Sri Richard Malanjum has proposed that lawyers be given 20 minutes to put forward oral submissions in hearings before the Federal Court and Court of Appeal to expedite appeal hearings.
 
Tan Sri Malanajum said that the practice of limiting oral submissions was common in the United States and the United Kingdom.
 
The Chief Justice added that the proposal could be made into a procedure in court once it gets approval from the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the Malaysian Bar, the Advocates Association of Sarawak and Sabah Law Society.
