Order for the Price of Drugs to be Marked - UPDATE

The Price Control and Anti-Profiteering (Price Marking for Drugs) Order 2025 [P.U.(A) 141/2025] (“Order”) took effect on 1 May 2025. The Order requires private healthcare facilities and community pharmacies to, among others, display prescribed information in relation to drugs that are displayed for sale and which can be accessed or seen by consumers. On 2 May 2025, the Deputy Director-General (Pharmaceutical Services) of the Ministry of Health, Dr Azuana Ramli, announced at a press conference that a three-month grace period will be granted to enable private healthcare facilities and community pharmacies to comply with the price-marking requirements under the Order. Dr Azuana assured affected stakeholders that there are no plans to issue compounds during this grace period. The Director-General (Enforcement Division) of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Azman Adam added that during this period, enforcement officers “will conduct checks at private hospitals and clinics to ensure they fulfil the requirements” under the Order.1
 
Datuk Azman further added that during this period, the government will also gather feedback and revise the Frequently Asked Questions to address any shortcomings.
