Government amends Movement Control Regulations

The Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021 (“Principal Regulations”) were gazetted on 9 May 2021 and came into force on 10 May 2021.
 
The Principal Regulations revoked the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Movement Control) (No. 4) Regulations 2021, the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Conditional Movement Control) (No. 4) Regulations 2021 and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Recovery Movement Control) (No. 3) Regulations 2021.

The Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 (“Amendment Regulations”) were gazetted on 24 May 2021 and came into force on 25 May 2021.
 
The Amendment Regulations amend the Principal Regulations in the following respects:
 
  1. The First Schedule of the Principal Regulations, which sets out the list of infected local areas in the State of Sarawak, is replaced and now comprises 22 zones, whereas previously, only 19 zones were categorised as such; and
  1. Paragraph 4 of the Second Schedule of the Principal Regulations is amended by adding entertainment activities at hotel lounges to the list of prohibited activities and clarifying that entertainment activities at drive-in cinemas are not prohibited. The amended paragraph now reads:
Entertainment activities at karaoke centers, family entertainment centers, hotel lounges, cinemas not including drive-in cinemas, and children’s playground in shopping malls”.
