The Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019 (‘New Regulations’) were gazetted on 1 March 2019 and will come into operation on 1 June 2019. The New Regulations will impose obligations on the employer to take measures to safeguard his employees from exposure to excessive noise in the workplace.
 
The New Regulations will replace the Factories and Machinery (Noise Exposure) Regulations 1989 which will be revoked pursuant to the Factories and Machinery (Noise Exposure) (Revocation) Regulations 2019 (‘Revocation Regulations’). 
 
It should be noted that the Revocation Regulations contain transitional provisions which should be noted by affected employers.
