Skrine acted as Malaysian counsel for Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. (“Yokohama”) in their acquisition of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s off-the-road tyre business for US$905 million. The acquisition forms part of Yokohama’s global expansion plan. Freshfields represented Yokohama as lead transaction lawyers for the acquisition.
 
Skrine provided advice on the assets transfer, transfer duties and employment transfer process relating to the Malaysian assets comprised in the acquisition.
 
The transaction was completed in early February 2025.
