The Communications and Multimedia (Spectrum) (Amendment) Regulations 2026¹ (“Amendment Regulations”) came into force on 1 July 2026, amending the Communications and Multimedia (Spectrum) Regulations 2000 (“Spectrum Regulations”).
 
Under the Amendment Regulations, the fixed and variable fees payable for apparatus assignments (“AA”) for most categories of apparatus set out in the First Schedule to the Spectrum Regulations have been increased. Additionally, as part of these amendments, the bandwidth categorisation has been expanded from 13 to 18 bandwidth ranges, the frequency band categorisation has been restructured into six bands, and the definitions of certain apparatus and services referred to in the First Schedule have also been amended or deleted.²
 
The application fees prescribed under the Second Schedule to the Spectrum Regulations for various matters, including fresh applications for, and variations to, spectrum assignments and AA, have also been increased.

Further, MCMC has announced that, with effect from 1 July 2026, all AA certificates will be issued in a new format and made available in digital form for download via the SpectraWeb portal³. Nevertheless, holders may still request physical AA certificates in the new format from MCMC.
