Transaction News: KWAP selects 12 General Partners for Dana Pemacu

Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (“KWAP”), the Malaysian Government’s pension fund, has finalised 12 global General Partners (“GPs”) to manage funds across Private Equity, Infrastructure and Real Estate under the RM6.0 billion Dana Pemacu initiative. Dana Pemacu is a Malaysia-focused initiative with the majority of the committed capital earmarked for Shariah compliant investments.

The twelve selected GPs are as follows:
  • Private Equity: Investcorp, Navis Capital Partners, Nexus Point and The Vistria Group;
  • Infrastructure: Climate Fund Managers, DigitalBridge, I Squared Capital and Seraya Partners; and
  • Real Estate: Castleforge Partners Limited, Lendlease Investment Management Pte Ltd, Savills Investment Management and TrustCapital Advisors Investment Management Pte Ltd.
Skrine represented KWAP for its partnership with The Vistria Group, Navis Capital Partners, Climate Fund Managers and Seraya Partners through four separately managed accounts (SMAs), together with co-counsel Stephenson Harwood, and acted as Malaysian counsel for KWAP for its partnership with Lendlease Investment Management Pte. Ltd, with Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer as fund counsel.

The funds will be targeted at critical economic sectors namely food security, education, silver economy, healthcare, energy transition, digital economy, financial inclusion, and impact-related themes under the Ekonomi MADANI framework. The co-general partner model aims to strengthen Malaysia’s private market ecosystem whilst ensuring global diversification for sustainable returns.
