Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Bill 2024 passed in Dewan Rakyat

The Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Bill 2024 (“2024 Bill”) was passed by the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives) of the Malaysian Parliament on 16 July 2024, without any amendments made to the 2024 Bill.
 
The 2024 Bill is likely to be presented at the Dewan Negara (Senate) at its next session which is scheduled from 22 July 2024 until 1 August 2024. Once passed by the Dewan Negara, it will be presented for Royal assent, before coming into force. The 2024 Bill will come into operation on a date to be appointed by the Digital Minister by notification in the Gazette.
