Department of Personal Data Protection Issues Codes of Practice for Private Hospitals in the Healthcare Industry and Utilities Sector (Water)

The Department of Personal Data Protection recently issued two codes of practice, namely the Code of Practice for Private Hospitals in the Healthcare Industry and the Code of Practice for Utilities Sector (Water).
 
The Code of Practice for Private Hospitals in the Healthcare Industry applies to all private healthcare facilities that are licensed as “Private Hospitals” under the Private Healthcare Facilities & Services Act 1998 (“PHFSA”).
 
The Code of Practice for Utilities Sector (Water) is applicable to the Utilities Sector (Water), in which the Code makes specific references to Water Services Industry Act 2006 and Water Services Industry (Water Supply Services Agreement Between Consumer and Water Distribution Licensee) Rules 2014. This Code applies to registered data users listed under Order 11 of Personal Data Protection (Class of Data Users) Order 2013 and shall include any other entities as may be gazetted by the Personal Data Protection Commissioner from time to time.
