Comments
The increase in minimum wages was announced by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during the tabling of the 2025 Malaysian Budget last October. This step aligns with the Government’s effort to ensure that employees
“earn meaningful wages and salaries to live more comfortably”1. The Government has also stressed that the minimum wages apply to foreign workers.
It is to be noted that the MWO 2024 does not apply to domestic servants.
The Government has issued a Frequently Asked Questions document on the application of the MWO 2024 which may be accessed
here.
