Transaction News: Malaysia Airports Sepang Issues Award for Aerotrain Replacement Project

Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn. Bhd (“MA Sepang”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, has awarded the contract for the development of a new Automated People Mover aerotrain system at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (“Aerotrain System”) to Pestech Technology Sdn. Bhd. (“Pestech”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pestech International Bhd, on 27 December 2021. The contract, which is valued at RM742.95 million, involves the design, construction, testing and commissioning and financing of new aerotrains, power supply, signalling and communication systems, and related facilities and equipment.
 
Pestech, who will be working closely with its key original equipment manufacturer Bombardier Transportation, will commence work in March 2022. Upon completion of the construction, Pestech will assume the role of operating and maintaining the Aerotrain System until 2034.
