On 29 July 2024, the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil (“
Brazil”) initiated an anti-dumping duties investigation on imports of clear float flat glass with thickness from 1.8mm to 20mm under subheading 7005.29.00 of the Harmonized System Code (“
subject merchandise”) originating from Malaysia, Pakistan and Turkiye. The Petition was filed by ABIVIDRO – Associação Brasileira das Indústrias de Vidro (“
Petitioner”).
Based on the Circular issued by the Secretary of Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (“
MDITS”), there is a reported increase in imports of the subject merchandise by 195% from Malaysia, Pakistan and Turkiye from 2019 to 2023.
According to the Secretary of Foreign Trade of the Brazilian MDITS, the relative dumping margin for imports of the subject merchandise from Malaysia is currently calculated to be 63.22%, while the relative dumping margins for imports of the subject merchandise from Pakistan and Turkiye range from 19.27% to 156.66%.
In connection with this anti-dumping duties investigation, the Department of Commercial Defence (“
DECOM”) will provide a set of questionnaires to interested parties, such as domestic producers and exporters of the subject merchandise from the targeted countries, which are due to be returned to DECOM by 28 August 2024 (extendable by an additional 30 days). All other interested parties who wish to participate in the anti-dumping duties investigation may register their participation no later than 19 August 2024.
