On 14 August 2024, the Government of Malaysia (“
Government”) initiated an anti-dumping duties investigation on imports of Flat-Rolled Products of Iron or Non-Alloy Steel of a Width of 600mm or more, Clad, Plated or Coated with Tin (Electrolytic Tinplate or Tinplate) classified under the Harmonised System Code and ASEAN Harmonised Tariff Nomenclature 7210.11.90 00 and 7210.12.90 00 (“
subject merchandise”) originating or exported from the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of India, Japan and the Republic of Korea (“
targeted countries”)
1. The Petition was filed by Perusahaan Sadur Timah Malaysia (Perstima) Berhad (“
Petitioner”), a domestic producer of the subject merchandise, on behalf of the Malaysian industry.
The Petitioner has stated and provided evidence that the imports of the subject merchandise from the targeted countries have increased in terms of absolute quantity. The Petitioner alleges that the increase in absolute quantity of imports from the targeted countries has caused the domestic industry to suffer injury, among others, price undercutting, price depression, reduction in market share, decline in sales, decline in actual production and capacity utilisation, decreased cash flow, decreased employment and wages and reduction in return on total asset.
All interested parties who wish to participate in the anti-dumping duties investigation may contact the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) in writing to request for a copy of the questionnaires no later than
29 August 2024.
