Suspension of Intraday and Proprietary Day Traders Short Selling on Bursa Malaysia Extended

The Securities Commission Malaysia and Bursa Malaysia Berhad announced on 26 August 2021 that the suspension of Intraday Short Selling (‘IDSS’) and Short Selling by Proprietary Day Traders (‘PDT SS’) on Bursa Malaysia which is due to expire on 29 August 2021 will be extended until 31 December 2021. The suspension of IDSS and PDT SS have been in place since 24 March 2020.
 
The suspension of IDSS and PDT SS does not apply to Permitted Short-Selling1, which had not been affected by the suspension announced on 24 March 2020 or to Regulated Short Selling where the suspension imposed on 24 March 2020 was uplifted on 1 1 January 2021.
