AI Security Guidelines Expected in July 2026

Malaysia’s National Cyber Security Agency is expected to roll out artificial intelligence (AI) security guidelines in early July 2026, according to its Chief Executive, Dr Megat Zuhairy Megat Tajuddin.1 The Chief Executive said that these guidelines would cover two key aspects, namely AI application and use, and are intended to help users and organisations manage risks linked to the use of AI.

The guidelines are intended for use by government agencies and organisations to ensure that their use of AI does not pose security risks, though private companies are welcome to adopt the guidelines as a reference. Dr Megat added that the guidelines will only serve as a reference and not be imposed as a mandatory requirement for the time being.

We will continue to monitor developments and provide further updates once available or once the guidelines are launched – interested parties should keep watch of this space.
