Environmental issues are an integral and important considerations in M&As, projects, property and doing business generally. We regularly advise on the legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to environmental health and safety issues and also advise on corporate governance and social responsibility issues in the context of risk management by corporations.
We also conduct legal due diligence audits as to compliance with environmental, health and safety issues and work with environmental management firms to provide comprehensive and practical solutions for our clients.
We also review environmental assessments conducted by environmental consultants in order to advise on legal implications for our clients.
Our environmental disputes practice deals with environmental and health and safety authorities on notices issued by the regulatory authorities including notices on non-compliance. Our disputes practice includes defending companies and/or directors and other officers in prosecutions and acting on claims for or defences against civil suits involving environmental claims.
Our clients include listed companies, oil and gas multinationals, the Government, public private partnerships, manufacturers as well as private companies. Our experience also includes regulatory advice on waste and water management and drafting of a model legislation for a State on a water resources project, and advising the project proponent on a 15 year exclusivity granted by the Government of Malaysia for Malaysia’s first integrated scheduled waste management project and on privatisation of solid waste management.
