Our Maritime and Shipping disputes team is led by Siva Kumar Kanagasabai, a Legal 500 Asia Pacific-ranked ‘Leading Lawyer’ and a ‘prominent figure in the market’ according to Chambers and Partners. Supported by senior associate Dhanyaa Shreeya Sukumar, who has been recognized as a ‘Rising Star’ by Legal 500 Asia Pacific.  The team has recently been further enhanced by the arrival of Louise Azmi who joined as partner.
 
We have successfully handled a wide array of complex contentious mandates, including vessel arrests and claims related thereto, charterparty disputes, oil pollution claims, cargo claims, Incoterm contract disputes, collision claims, fraud and enforcement of ship mortgages under both conventional and Islamic facilities
 
Our team is also experienced in international arbitrations, including those involving commodities disputes, charterparty disputes and carriage of goods by sea, ensuring seamless navigation through complex cross-border challenges.
 
On the non-contentious front, the firm’s practice is jointly led by Fariz Abdul Aziz who focuses on offshore developments and projects, cross border leasing arrangements, sale of maritime assets and international trading transactions.  Partner, Tan Shi Wen, advises on vessel financing, mortgage registration, corporate restructuring, vessel flagging and other shipping related matters. The team supports a diverse range of clients including shipyards, financiers, operators, ship managers, port operators  of vessel construction and purchases. Leveraging on her award-winning competition/anti-trust practice, Shi Wen has represented the Malaysian Shipowners Association and Shipping Association Malaysia in each of its four successful applications for the block exemptions from certain aspects of the Malaysian Competition Act.
