Our scope of work in this area covers drafting and negotiation of loan and security documentation on behalf of lenders (offshore as well as Malaysian financial institutions including syndications) and borrowers in the manufacturing, aircraft, shipping, property, tourism and mining sectors. In such cases, matters relating to exchange control, stamp duty, other tax issues as well as regulatory approvals will be addressed.When required, Skrine as Malaysian counsel for offshore lenders is able to issue counsel’s opinion on the issues of validity and enforceability of the loan and applicable security documentation from the viewpoint of Malaysian laws.
The launch of the Multimedia Super Corridor with its attractive incentives saw the incorporation of information technology companies. Besides being involved in the setting up of these companies, Skrine has also been active in acting for venture capitalists in the provision of seed capital and start-up funds.
