INTRODUCTION
Skrine was one of the first few law firms in Malaysia to establish a practice group dedicated to the practice areas of information technology, communications and multimedia and e-commerce. These are all areas of law which have developed rapidly over the last few years and continue to evolve, in line with the country’s move towards increasing globalisation and in tune with the E-economy and subsequent transformation to a K-economy.
Skrine’s IT Practice Group, which forms part of our IP and IT Practice, was established to meet the growing needs of clients involved in the IT, communications and multimedia industries as well as those venturing into e-commerce, online banking and transactions.
Skrine’s IT & E-Commerce Practice Group provides an extensive range of legal services relating to the acquisition, protection and use of information technology products and services.
In recent years, Malaysia has witnessed a convergence of the country’s previously vertical industries of telecommunications, broadcasting and information technology. The lawyers in our IT & E-Commerce Practice Group are able to advise clients on the intricacies of the legal and regulatory framework governing the convergent communications and multimedia industry. Our team of IT lawyers able to advise, assist and liaise with the industry’s regulatory body, the Communications and Multimedia Commission with respect to licensing matters.
