Ashok has conducted arbitration and litigation in building construction contracts relating, inter alia, to claims for extension of time, claims on certificates, liquidated damages, claims on loss and expense, variation works, “pay when paid clauses”, performance bonds and defective design claims.
He was involved in various construction disputes as Counsel and Junior Counsel for various multinational companies. His scope of work entails advising various well-reputed companies specialised in civil building work, oil and gas industry, refinery plant maintenance, telecommunication services and the health maintenance industry. He has also on many occasions advised on the mechanisms involved in an arbitration proceeding and the various strategies in pursuing claims of such a nature.
He was also involved in negotiating and advising local and various multinational companies on various construction contracts including main building contract, sub-contracts, management contracts, consultancy contracts and suppliers’ contract.
Apart from his focus on construction law, Ashok has also conducted matters in court in various other areas of law including sale of goods, landlord and tenant, tortious claims, companies winding up, bankruptcy and guarantees/indemnities.
