Vinayaga Raj Rajaratnam was admitted to the English Bar in 1989. On his return to Malaysia, he was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1990 after having completed his pupilage in Skrine. He then commenced his legal practice with Skrine in 1991 and was made a partner of the firm in 2000.

Vinayaga has 18 years experience in Commercial, Corporate Banking, Financing and Insolvency Litigation. He appears frequently in the High Court for trial work. During the last 12 years, he has had numerous appearances in the Court of Appeal and Federal Court as Lead Counsel. Since 1997, he has provided Banking and Insolvency consultancy to Asset Management Corporations and Asset Management Departments of banking institutions in Malaysia. He has also been involved in many restructuring/debt settlement and workouts of major companies in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific Region.

His professional affiliations and accolades include being a member of INSOL (International Association of Insolvency Restructuring Practitioners), the Who’s Who of Leading Professionals and he has been named as a Leading Lawyer in Insolvency and Restructuring by AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers 2009.
