QUAY Chew Soon QUAY Chew Soon

Quay Chew Soon graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1987 and started his career in the position of Assistant Registrar of Supreme Court, Singapore from 1987-1989. During that period, he also served as (1) Magistrate and Coroner, Subordinate Courts; (2) Referee, Small Claims Tribunal; and (3) Registrar, Land Acquisitions Appeals Board. Chew Soon went on to obtain his Masters in Law from the National University of Singapore as well in 1990. From 1990-1993, he practiced with Lee & Lee, Singapore before joining Skrine in 1993. He became a partner of Skrine in 1996.

Selected Experience

  • Acted for Reliance Industries Ltd (India) in the acquisition of a textile manufacturing plant via a receivership sale.
  • Acted for PPB Group Bhd in the disposal of its oil palm plantation business pursuant to a voluntary take-over offer by Wilmar International Ltd (Singapore) and the disposal of its edible oils and trading businesses.
  • Acted in the proposed rationalisation of Kumpulan Guthrie Group via a scheme of arrangement.
  • Acted for Ford Motor Company (US) in a car assembly joint venture company, Ford Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
  • Acted for ACE Ltd in the acquisition of an insurance company.
  • Acted for Malaysian Tobacco Company Bhd in its merger with Rothmans and its reverse takeover by Binariang Satellite Systems.
