Leong Wai Hong graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1988 and was in legal practice in Singapore from 1989 until 1992. He then returned to Malaysia to practise at Skrine where he was made a partner of the firm in 1997.

He has conducted many arbitrations, trials before the High Court of Malaya, and hearings at the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court. Many of his cases have been reported in the Malaysian law journals. He has represented both local and international clients in many corporate and commercial litigation, defamation, probate, banking, trust and land acquisition disputes.
He enjoys travelling, sports and reading history, archaeology and the military.
- ICC Arbitration – Contractual & Shareholders dispute. Client was sued for breach of a shareholders agreement. Client denied and disputed the claim. Client also raised issue of limitation.
- Commercial dispute – Client was sued for wrongful termination of two sale and purchase (cum development) agreements and wrongful forfeiture of all sums received totalling to approximately RM9 million. The suit went up to the Federal Court.
- Corporate Dispute – Client sued for breach of Share Sale Agreement and Shareholders’ Agreement. Client also applied for an interim injunction restraining payment of RM8 Million under a bank guarantee.
- Commercial Dispute – Client who is a listed stock broking firm sued for about RM4.2 million outstanding contra losses in share trading and share margin accounts together with interests.
- Medical Negligence –Client sued for medical negligence against two (2) doctors and also the Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital.
- Corporate Dispute – Plaintiff claimed for 14 cranes alleged to have been sold to the defendant for the sum of RM14million.
- Banking Litigation – Client sued for monies paid under mistake of fact.
- Banking Litigation – Client which is a bank was sued by a customer for wrongful suspension of bridging loan facilities granted for a housing project. The bank counter claimed. The trial took 24 days over 4 years. The issues involved the entire duration of a construction project from releasing bridging loan to end-financing.
- Construction Litigation – Client was sued pursuant to a settlement agreement to settle balance retention sum and payment certificate.
- Trespass – Sale and purchase agreement included a side letter which provides that the land must be cleared of all private and government encroachment failing which a penalty of RM1 million each is payable to the new purchaser.
- Building Construction Dispute – Reviewing the correctness of part of the Federal Court’s ruling in the earlier case of Selvakumar on the meaning of certain words in section 75 of the Contracts Act.
- Land Dispute – Eviction of ex-workers of the biggest plantation estates in Malaysia.
- Probate Dispute - Large estate dispute. Suit against the trustee for breach of duties by beneficiaries of the Estate.
- Testified as an expert witness on Malaysian law in the Singapore High Court.
