On 28 August 2026, the Government of Malaysia initiated an anti-dumping duties investigation on imports of Prestressing Concrete Wire classified under the Harmonised System Code and ASEAN Harmonised Tariff Nomenclature 7217.10.3300¹ (“subject merchandise”) originating or exported from the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Thailand (“relevant countries”).²
 
The Petition was filed by Southern PC Steel Sdn. Bhd. (“Petitioner”), a domestic producer of the subject merchandise, on behalf of the Malaysian industry.
 
The Petitioner has stated and provided evidence that the imports of the subject merchandise from the relevant countries have increased in terms of absolute quantity. The Petitioner alleges that the increase in absolute quantity of imports from the relevant countries has caused the domestic industry to suffer injury, namely, increase in import volume, reduction in market share, price undercutting, price depression, increase in inventory, low production and capacity utilisation, low productivity and the inability to raise capital.
 
All interested parties who wish to participate in the anti-dumping duties investigation may contact the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) in writing to request for a copy of the questionnaire by 12 September 2026 and return the same by 27 September 2026 (being 15 and 30 days respectively from 28 August 2026, the date of publication of the gazette notification of the initiation of the anti-dumping investigation).
