PUPILLAGE
Skrine recruits its lawyers primarily from the ranks of its pupils.
Pupils who show promise in the course of their pupillage will generally be
offered employment. The Firm is committed to developing its programme for its
pupils to ensure that pupillage at Skrine is an enlightening and educational
experience.
SKRINE’S PUPILS’ PROGRAMME
We have an active on-going programme
for qualified persons who seek admission as advocates and solicitors of the
High Court of Malaya. The pupillage programme is designed with a view to exposing
our pupils to all the different aspects of legal practice. Additionally, the
programme incorporates the best of both hard work and play as pupils will have
the opportunity to participate in numerous extra curricular activities both
sporting, social and community based. [Go to Events]
Choice of Practice Area
The Firm will do its utmost to assign a pupil to a
master in the practice area of the choice of the pupil. Skrine is a full service
commercial law firm and our practice areas are broadly divided into litigation
and dispute resolution, corporate and conveyancing and intellectual property.
The majority of the pupil masters within the Firm have upwards of ten years
in practice in their chosen practice areas.
Pupils’ Lecture Programme
The Firm conducts an in-house pupils’ lecture
programme for pupils. The objective of the programme is to assist the pupils
in familiarising themselves with Malaysian laws and regulatory requirements,
legal practice in Malaysia and to provide an insight into the practical aspects
of legal practice.
Resources
Skrine has excellent library facilities that include the leading
law reports from Malaysia, England, Australia, Canada and India and on-line
search facilities such as Lexis-Nexis, Lawnet and links to Malaysia government
printers. These facilities enable most research to be carried within the Firm’s
premises.
Extra-Curricular Activities
The firm recognises that interaction is necessary
for the fostering of a Firm ethos and team spirit and encourages the active
participation of the pupils in extra-curricular activities. [Link to Events]
A monthly lunch between the partners and pupils is also organised to provide
a forum to discuss issues and obtain feed-back from the pupils.
Honorarium
Pupils are given an honorarium during their pupillage.
